Songwriter, guitarist, bluesman, performer, and true original Chris Smither returns with his 18th album, and first studio recording of new originals in six years, with Call Me Lucky, which is available today, March 2nd. Smither and long-time producer and multi-instrumentalist David Goodrich, along with drummer Billy Conway, Matt Lorenz, and engineer Keith Gary, entered the studio to record ten songs and wound up with a double record featuring the eight originals and two covers they began with, as well as a second disc, which captures the same songs in very different arrangements.
At the core of Call Me Lucky are the ten tracks, from “Blame’s on Me” to “Lower the Humble” or "Nobody Home," which thoughtfully touch on the human condition. And today, TDC is pleased to share the video for one of those tunes, the bluegrass inspired “Change Your Mind” which finds Smither performing the reflective and insightful song solo acoustic in a picturesque vintage barn. Smither had this to say about recording the video, "When I was with Salt Stage videographer Jason Goodman shooting in this gorgeous barn in Leverett, Massachusetts, the sky and the air and the birds were just right. I'm not sure what prompted me to play this one but I'm sure glad we got this one on video." Website/Facebook/Twitter/Purchase Chris Smither (Album Release) April 4th Wed 8 PM City Winery NYC
