(Nashville, TN Press Release) – After years of being shunned by the Nashville country music community, Wheeler Walker, Jr. lands victoriously in the top ten on Billboard’s Country Albums chart with his debut album, Redneck Shit, produced by Dave Cobb (Chris Stapleton, Sturgill Simpson, Jason Isbell). Redneck Shit debuts at #9 on the industry’s Country Albums chart and also tops the Comedy chart at #1. Redneck Shit is the first album in nearly a decade to achieve top 10 on both charts. Thirty Tigers President, David Macias said, “The reaction to this record has been overwhelming. And to think, I only put this out because I lost a bet.” When told of his exceptional chart debuts, Walker had this to say, “I sold less than Sam Hunt and I’m supposed to be celebrating? Also, why the fuck am I on the comedy chart? Florida Georgia Line should be on the fucking comedy chart.”
In the past two weeks, Walker has appeared on Howard Stern’s Wrap Up Show, Steve Gorman’s Sports radio show (180+ affiliates), Opie & Jim, Overnight America, hosted an hour long Outlaw Country radio special on Sirius/XM and done call ins with numerous AOR, Classic Rock, Alt and A3 stations. His success has been achieved despite the mainstream country music community. Instead of country radio, one of Walker’s most successful marketing partnerships has been with PornHub, where he premiered his 2nd music video “Drop ‘Em Out” (his first video for “Fuck You Bitch” premiered with Billboard). PornHub also hosted an exclusive “Premature Album Release” stream prior to street date. Outside of Outlaw Country (Sirius/XM), Music Row Magazine, and RS Country, he has done this without the support of the mainstream country music community. His November twitter spat with Wynonna Judd turned into a battle on the Billboard Country Chart, with Walker landing on top of Wynonna. Just prior to his February 12th, street date, Walker also played his first headline show in Nashville in front of a packed house at the legendary Exit/In, on the last night of Country Radio Seminar (where he was not invited to play the New Faces Show). Walker’s history is the stuff of legend: dropped from three different major labels, physical altercations with managers, agents and label executives. His refusal to tour and his lack of any official release has kept Walker underground, until now. The Redneck Shit album was released on Walker’s own Pepper Hill Records via Thirty Tigers.
