Nashville, TN (Press Release) - Acclaimed Knoxville band William Wild will release Steady Now, a six song EP, on March 4th via Randm Records (The Honey Dewdrops). William Wild is the moniker inspired by the nickname of a homeless man for 24-year old singer-songwriter Garrett Sale. Hazy guitars, dusty keys, and blurry pedal steel illuminate the recordings of weighty songs immersed in loss, fear of failure, and the worthiness of human existence. With plush nostalgic pop sensibilities, Steady Now radiates tranquility. The EP is the follow up to Sale’s self-titled debut album that was recorded during his studies at The University of Tennessee. Sale was the feature topic in The Daily Times (view HERE) and performed a Daytrotter session. View a live performance of the song “Townsend” HERE. Continuing with the layered vocals, lush strings, dark tones of the debut album, Steady Now explores his search for peace while wrestling with self-pity, guilt and materialism.
The album’s most cutting song “When I’ve Been Gone” is also his most personal, written from the perspective of his father who was homeless for 5 years and battled addiction. It’s an emotional experience as Hale sings “What about those times I almost changed? What do they mean?” The title track is a beautifully intense experience with lyrics “Oh death won’t you give me a second chance. I’m looking for an easy way out. I need it more than the company I’m searching for.” On release day, Sale will perform a hometown show with his band at the historic Bijou Theatre in Knoxville. Tickets are available HERE. As William Wild continues to emerge as an Artist To Watch, it becomes more evident that Knoxville has its own songwriting scene that can compete with the likes of Nashville.
