![]() (LOS ANGELES Press Release) -- Southern California singer/songwriter Travis Marsh has just premiered the video for his infectious new single “Lay Me Down” on Vevo.com. The video features Chicago rapper G Herbo, alongside artist and model Asphyxia Noir, as a wounded Marsh has a bullet removed from his shoulder in a secluded hotel room. The ominous tone of the video concludes with a truly sinister ending. Fans can check out the video, directed by Mamady Condé, here. Travis had this to say about the underlying social message of “Lay Me Down” (produced by Smitty Soul) and his collaboration with G Herbo: “I had a great time writing music and coming together on this track with Herb to help bring awareness to some of the social injustices we face today from LA to the Windy City.” Travis will be taking his electrifying live show down to Austin this week for a couple of SXSW showcases. Saturday (3/18) will see Travis performing on the rooftop of the Westin Hotel in downtown Austin at 5PM as part of the Chive TV showcase. ![]() A few years ago, lyricist Tom Siering approached Nashville stalwart Tim Carroll about putting some of his words to music. The resulting side project was The 81s. After recording and releasing their first record, Just One Word: Fin Del Mundo, they decided to keep the partnership going. For their second effort, Tom had a vision of a garage rock record resembling The Velvet Underground and Nico and suggested bringing in Tim's girlfriend, Nashville songstress, Luella. Big Man is a rock album full of grit and angst that showcases not only the powerful lyrics of Siering, but the contrasting vocals of Carroll and Luella along with the precision of the rhythm section of Cameron Carrus (bass) and Marco Giovino (drums). All of which are held together by the immaculate guitar playing of Tim Carroll. The subject matter covers doomed relationships, the current political landscape, navigating the music business, and even highlights the plight of so many of the 7 footers in the NBA over the years. ![]() Nashville, TN (March 17, 2017) – The ‘wait’ is almost over as rising star Lindsay Ell revealed today her highly-anticipated debut EP WORTH THE WAIT will be released on Friday, March 24 via Stoney Creek Records. Produced by celebrated GRAMMY-winning musician Kristian Bush (of Sugarland), fans and critics alike are buzzing over the budding star’s debut project. The six-song compilation is stacked with vulnerability and is deliberate in its sequence, giving listeners a front row seat to a deeply personal narrative. Opening with the flirtatious “Waiting on You,” Ell breezily croons, “I’m a July sky / You’re a bottle rocket / I’m waiting on you…” “Criminal” then marks a cascading mood shift in an undefined relationship, capturing Ell’s tantalizing vocals over punchy guitar lines. “Space” and “Standing Here” are instantly relatable emotional stand-outs, featuring contributions from heavy-hitting songwriters including Caitlyn Smith and Ryan Hurd, respectively. ![]() In anticipation of her debut album Gilded, produced by Social Distortion frontman Mike Ness and out May 19th, Jade Jackson has released a new video for her song “Finish Line.” The intensely personal and beautifully evocative clip, directed by Andrew Van Baal (Mark Lanegan, Eels, Sean Rowe) provides an ideal visual accompaniment for the song. Watch HERE. As Jade explains, “Before we shot the video for “Finish Line”, the director, Andrew Van Baal, came to visit my hometown of Santa Margarita. I was able to show him places that hold value to me, from where we rehearse in my neighbor's garage to my parents' restaurant where I've worked since I was thirteen; literally every detail in the video was directly lifted from my life. I was shocked that Andrew wanted to capture such an authentic representation of my background; from the lyrics of the song to the location of the video, this is 100% autobiographical. What an incredible experience it was to film something in a few days that was 24 years in the making.” Gilded is unapologetically country rock, merging the heartbreak and resilience of Lucinda Williams with the melodic confidence of Emmylou Harris, yet containing the emotional presence of a young musician who cherished albums by The Gun Club and Smiths alongside the works of George Jones and Hank Williams. Mike Ness says of their collaboration, “I wouldn't have done this record if I didn't believe in her and her potential. The songs were amazing and came to life each week we worked on them. She is an old soul and it comes through in her songwriting and performing. She truly is one of a kind, raw and unique. She put her trust in me and I trusted she'd deliver and she did.” Jade Jackson is currently touring with Social Distortion in the US.
