A fervent anthem for those who are lost and longing, “Lungs Are Burning” is the first single from Christina Martin's forthcoming album (Come Undone Records /Tonetoaster). The song was triggered by the rising Fentanyl drug crisis killing thousands of Canadians, with Christina’s lyrics set to music by her and guitarist/producer Dale Murray.  With lyrics like “while I’m watching the babies” and “got to go out and get some, baby”, Martin captures the desperation of “chasing the dream” and the horror of living it.  Murray’s stately production brings that stark reality home with a bite.
 
Martin: “The song is a modest attempt to bring light to the heavy topic of addiction, and reflects my own personal sense of loss, longing and a deep void, and the ache I feel from losing my brother and friends to addiction and mental illness.”
 
Canadian Singer-Songwriter Christina Martin began writing and recording her own music while slogging it out on the Austin, Texas bar scene in the early 2000’s, before returning home to Canada in 2003. Since 2008 she has been relentlessly recording and touring in Canada and overseas, building connections the old-fashioned way, at venues big and small, singing songs about loss and love, anxiety and perseverance. Along the way, she has earned multiple East Coast Music and Music Nova Scotia Awards.  Her songs have been featured in films, on television, and she’s performed at music festivals around the world (Rolling Stone Weekender Festival, Belfast Nashville Songwriters Festival, International Folk Alliance, Reeperbahn Festival, Canada Music Week). 
 
Christina lives in rural Nova Scotia with her husband and musical partner Dale Murray.  They share a life that’s simple, honest and adorned with the joy of music.  “Lungs Are Burning” is another powerful step in their remarkable musical journey.

Today, Whitehorse unveil the video to 'Die Alone' taken from Panther In The Dollhouse. The video for “Die Alone,” from Massey Hall’s new Ghost Light Sessions, was shot on the theatre's grand and storied stage and shows Luke Doucet and Melissa McClelland’s exquisite harmonies and tones. From The Road To Massey Hall, an EP celebrating artists whose careers are intertwined with the venue’s history, to this striking stripped-down performance, Whitehorse’s reverence for this stage has become part of their story as well.

“Die Alone” is found on the forthcoming Panther In The Dollhouse, an album that examines the conventions and assumptions of domestic life. “Die Alone” is a devastating grindhouse ballad about the havoc wreaked by and for love. Endurance and exhaustion are two sides of the coin Whitehorse flips: “You got down on one knee and pulled the rug from my feet,” sings McClelland.

The two-time JUNO Award winners/nominees will make their third appearance as Massey Hall headliners on December 8, 2017 in Canada for the Live at Massey Hall series.

Whitehorse have also just been announced to perform as part of the upcoming Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame induction of Neil Young, Bruce Cockburn and others. Further details of Whitehorse’s role in this ceremony will be released soon.

Panther In The Dollhouse will be released to the UK August 4th, 2017.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Press Release) – Two of the most profound musical innovators in country and bluegrass music will forever remain part of the Soul of Nashville with the installation today of life-size statues of Little Jimmy Dickens and Bill Monroe at the historic Ryman Auditorium.

The Ryman, which is recognized as the Soul of Nashville, was founded as a beacon of hope for the faithful; it has become an international symbol of cultural significance drawing millions of people to Nashville to find their own inspiration in the wood pews under the famed stained-glass windowpanes.

The bronze likenesses were commissioned by the Ryman Auditorium in recognition of the 125th Anniversary. Sculpted by artist Ben Watts, the life-size statues took one year to create. Little Jimmy Dickens’ statue is adjacent to the landmark statue of riverboat captain Thomas G. Ryman on Fourth Avenue. The replica of the Father of Bluegrass Music Bill Monroe is located near the Fifth Avenue driveway.

​NASHVILLE, Tenn. — For many artists, stepping into a studio to record an album can be challenging enough. But when East Nashvillian Korby Lenker began working on his seventh album, Thousand Springs, he decided to skip the studio altogether and head to his home state of Idaho to record in places that held particular meaning for him. Venturing forth with his guitar, some recording gear and a tent, he captured his vocal and guitar parts in more than a dozen locales, including the edge of the Snake River Canyon, a cabin north of Sun Valley and his undertaker father’s mortuary.

Then he spent months driving around the country to collect vocal and instrumental contributions from nearly 30 of today’s finest folk talents, among them Nora Jane Struthers, Anthony Da Costa, Carrie Elkin, Amy Speace, Molly Tuttle, Kai Welch, Angel Snow, Becky Warren and the Punch Brothers’ Chris “Critter” Eldridge. In Madison, Wisconsin, Portland, Oregon, Seattle, Los Angeles, Boston, Austin and Nashville, he recorded their work in backyards, hotel rooms and even a bookstore, then went home to edit them into Thousand Springs. The self-produced album releases July 14, 2017, on Soundly Music (via RED distribution).
