Critically acclaimed singer-songwriter Ray Scott has built up an impressive career over the past decade. His 2005 debut album My Kind of Music racked up sales of over 100,000 units, and became the # 1 Country Album on the Billboard Heatseekers chart. Now, the singer-songwriter is prepping to release his sixth studio disc, Guitar For Sale, on June 9th. Scott commented on the new project, “When I went into the studio with my friend, and new producer, Michael Hughes, my goal was to do something a little different, something live tracked that’s not so polished, maybe even rough in spots, with the hope we’d come out with a product that had elements reminiscent of the way music first hit my ears when I was a young’un,” said Scott. “It wasn’t my intent to worry about what the rest of Nashville was doing… 'course it never has been. I’m proud to say I think we accomplished that. My first single, ‘Livin’ This Way’ is based on a classic country music theme - pain. In keeping with my habit of honesty in songwriting, I thought it was a good way introduce this new project.” The title track, co-written with Ben Hayslip, closes out the eleven song set on a somber, emotional note as the semi-autobiographical ballad details the struggles of musicians and the toll it takes on their personal lives. Watch as Scott talks about the track below. Scott will also be touring to promote the release of Guitar For Sale, with dates booked through the summer. ![]() GRAMMY® Award winners, Cage The Elephant will release Unpeeled, their unplugged live album worldwide this summer via RCA Records. The album was recorded over a series of rare acoustic shows in cities including Los Angeles, Washington DC, Knoxville, and Nashville. Unpeeled features eighteen curated songs from their past four albums as well as three interpretations of existing songs, performed live and stripped down and in some cases with a string quartet and a choir accompaniment. Said guitarist Brad Shultz about the inspiration behind the album: “We connected with the songs in a way we hadn’t before. It was really all about the balance of the intimacy and the delicacy of how we approach playing these songs live acoustically and with strings as we hadn’t done before. We were very transparent, and we found the more honest you can be with yourself, the more honest you can be with everyone else.” Last night, Cage The Elephant appeared on Late Night With Seth Meyers to perform “Too Late to Say Goodbye” off their forthcoming album, Unpeeled. Additionally, drummer Jared Champion will sit in the entire week of June 5th. His collective body of work spanning two full length albums has functioned like an inexhaustible machine amassing seven consecutive #1 hit singles on the Texas Regional Radio Chart. His latest album “Holding Me Together” picked up perfectly where his previous album left off with all four singles snagging the #1 spot, distinguishing him as a new generation heavy weight champion of old school country music. With the release of his new single “Change My Mind,” Ward continues his pace towards his next hit song, and also to new venue stages. Adding to his success at radio, his live show reputation has similarly turned hordes of music fans in his direction, and his peers have taken notice. In August 2017, Ward will accompany fellow honky tonker Cody Johnson on a West Coast tour, a perfect paring of authentic country music genius. Never a group to stand by conventional protocol, the celebrated Providence, RI quartet will release two separate albums of original material, Deer Tick Vol. 1 and Deer Tick Vol. 2 (Partisan Records), recorded at Ardent Studios in Memphis, TN. The two albums complement each other yet reflect completely contrasting styles, both of which accurately represent the two distinctive musical personalities of Deer Tick — quiet and thoughtful / loud and raucous. Listen to the beautiful “Sea Of Clouds” from Vol. 1 (HERE) and the garage punk-infused “It’s a Whale” from Vol. 2 (HERE). Deer Tick Vol. 1 showcases the folk-driven, roots/rock style with the right amount of grit, that Deer Tick is known for. Lead singer/songwriter John McCauley is a masterful, introspective and observational songwriter, who documents inner struggles and external conflicts with a perfect balance of heartfelt sincerity and wry wit. The opening track "Sea of Clouds" encompasses all of what brought so many fans to Deer Tick in the first place, and also what kept them there. Guitarist Ian O’Neil’s “Hope is Big” and drummer Dennis Ryan’s “Me & My Man” expand on the group’s already dynamic range. ![]() (Nashville, Tennessee...Press Release) - June 6, 2017 - The iconic Bluebird Cafe is turning 35, and June kicks off a year of celebration with special performances, appearances, other milestones and acknowledgements. The track was by Indian / British singer-songwriter Dan Raza, a writer who, like Young, creates music that whilst rooted in immediate genres transcends them by being able to touch on universal feelings and concepts. His songs have a strong sense of place and an enigmatic, wistful, restless quality at their heart. The release of Dan Raza’s critically acclaimed debut album in 2012, alongside dates with Joan Armatrading, Badly Drawn Boy, Cara Dillon, Bellowhead, Mary Gauthier, Slaid Cleaves and more, cemented his place in the UK folk and roots scene and led BBC documentary maker, James Ashley Smith, to create ‘Can’t Go Back’, a short feature film about Raza’s sacrifices and struggles for his musical dreams. Now with the release of his second album [July 7th] simply titled ‘Two’, it should be time that Raza is recognized as one of the UK’s most exciting and authentic new homegrown independent singer-songwriters with an outstanding new album of deeply written songs that every real music lover should lend their ears to. The album features some great legendary talents backing Raza including BJ Cole (Dolly Parton, Bert Jansch), Frank Mead (Albert King, Paul McCartney), and members of Slim Chance, Geraint Watkins (Van Morrison, Nick Lowe), Steve Simpson (Eric Bibb, Ronnie Lane) and Charlie Hart (Ian Dury, Eric Clapton). The result is a finely produced album that is warm and immediate, yet has a depth and textural range that rewards repeat listening. Moments like ‘Shadowlands’ have a Tom Waits or Nick Cave feel with dark moody landscapes, classic sounding guitars and haunting folk instrumentation; others, like ‘Where The Rivers Divide’, suggest bittersweet blue atmospheres that ebb and flow with confidence and mastery whilst ‘Pay Day’ is a straight up gutsy folk-rock belter. The tracks are full of stories influenced by and reflecting all aspects of Raza’s travelling and personal life and the production oozes with quality. ‘Two’ is a special collection of songs which have been honed and lovingly created and should be cherished at home on nights alone or with friends. ![]() SAN DIEGO, CA (Press Release) – Ever since Dannie Marie memorized every song on the Britney Spears CD she got in a McDonald’s Happy Meal when she was six, she dreamed of the day she could release her own record. Featuring nine original songs that showcase her brand of “bro country with a dose of estrogen,” the album was recorded in Nashville with some of Music City’s top studio and touring musicians. KWCK Program Director Heath Shelby, who spins Dannie Marie’s singles Anything I Wanna Be and Countin’ Down Summertime on his country station in Arkansas, says, “She is an incredible talent with a great songwriting ability.” |
